On Thursday August 5, 2021 Norine Jewkes, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and family matriarch, died peacefully at the age of 89, while surrounded by her family.

Norine was born in Helper, Utah on June 26, 1932 to Joseph and Rose Mazzarise Ghirardelli. She was the only girl alongside her brothers, Joseph Jr., Charles, and Richard. She began her career as an usher at the Strand Theatre where she met her soul mate Ronald Jewkes. They were married at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on November 22, 1951 and their love endured for 68 years until Ron’s passing. She worked as an accountant at Barton Motors and eventually joined her brother Chuck at Chuck’s Pharmacy in Helper, where the two of them worked for over 40 years. The pharmacy was not just a successful business but was also a social establishment where customers became lifelong friends.

Her hobbies included Helper Dinner Dance, Bridge Club, trips to Wendover, and winning quarters from her family while playing Greek Rummy. She was also an avid Notre Dame fan and loved watching and cheering for the Utah Jazz. She was an accomplished bowler where she won many tournaments and qualified for the state tournament numerous times. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, delivered communion to the sick, and helped count the weekly offerings. She was also named Catholic Woman of the Year.

Norine is survived by her four children, Laurie (Gary) Hanson, Price, UT, Ronnie (Jan Siaperas) Jewkes, Price, UT, Stacey (Andy Barnett Jr.) Jewkes, Price, UT Jeff (Jessica) Jewkes, Kenilworth, UT; grandchildren, Charlie, Gianni, Nicholas, Andrea, Christopher, Julia, Tristan, Noah, Chloe, and Logan, and numerous great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Ghirardelli, Helper, UT, and Marlene Ghirardelli, Carbonville, UT.

Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Rose Ghirardelli; brothers, Joseph Ghirardelli Jr., Charles Ghirardelli, and Richard Ghirardelli; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Ghirardelli, Betty Jewkes; in-law’s Calvin and Viola Jewkes; brother-in-law, Calvin Jewkes Jr.

Funeral Mass, Tuesday, August 10, 2021, 10:00 a.m., St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Vigil service, Monday evening, 7:00 p.m. at the church in Helper. Family will receive friends at St. Anthony’s Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper, Utah.
