Howard Lee Cowan, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Heirloom Inn on August 10, 2021 in Price, Utah.

Howard was born January 29, 1932 to Ernest and Cora Buff Cowan in Mountain View, Missouri. He was the ninth child of ten.  When he was two his mother Cora passed away. He considered Ernestine his older sister, his mother.  She was only fourteen at the time and did an awesome job with her siblings.

He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1951-1955.

Married the love of his life Betty Morris on April 20, 1952. They were blessed with two children, Michael and Alese.

He was an excellent salesman and worked many years for Sears, winning awards and acknowledgements.

Howard loved the outdoors; he hiked to the top of Mount Whitney in California and took many trips on his touring bike. He lived in California many years, until moving to Price, Utah two years ago to be close to family.

Howard attended New Life Nazarene Church in Pismo Beach. He loved the Lord and served as an usher, and member of the King’s crew.

Survived by his wife, Betty; son, Michael (Sharon) Cowan; daughter, Alese Bowan; grandchildren, Adam Bowman, Dylan Taylor Bowman, Melissa (Matthew) Maestas, Shane (Delaney) Cowan; ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.

He will be greatly missed especially for his kindness and humor.

Funeral service Saturday, August 14, 2021, 10:00 a.m., Calvary Faith Church (600 Denver Ave) in East Carbon where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment East Carbon City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome to share memories at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
