The Miss Outstanding Teen and Miss Carbon County Pageant is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 28 at 4:00 pm at the Mont Harmon Middle School Auditorium. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Miss Outstanding Teen, Skylynn Basso and Miss Carbon County, Megan Mower to reflect on their reign before handing over their crowns.

Basso reflects on her platform she developed during her reign, “My platform is called Let Your Dreams Be Your Wings and it’s helping little kids follow their dreams no matter how big or small they may be. With this, our first year in reign, in September, I along with other local businesses held a Mud Run and since then we’ve been to a bunch of schools reading them books and just sharing my platform with the community,” said Basso. Her platform allowed her to work with school aged children which she enjoyed very much.

Basso will be a high school senior at Carbon High School this year and is looking forward to her last year of high school. “So my plans after high school, I definitely want to go to USU Eastern and dance on their dance team, that’s been a dream of mine since I was little. I’m still deciding between being a Pediatric Nurse and a Marine Biologist, so big differences,” explained Basso. She is looking forward to crowning the next Miss Outstanding Teen on August 28.

Like Basso, Mower’s platform worked closely with the local children in the area. “It is a platform that I created it is F.E.E.L. for Kids and F.E.E.L. stands for Fed, Entertain, Exercise, and Love. So I’m going into Elementary Education and I have just always loved kids and the idea of helping them grow so I created my platform on just building kids, and all their needs and everything that they need,” explained Mower. After she hands over her crown on August 28, she plans to continue her education at Dixie State University.

Mower was asked to share her experience at the Miss Utah pageant in June, “So last time we talked I was getting ready to go to Miss Utah so now I’m back after that experience. It was amazing, like the best week of my life. I will forever take things away that I learned there for the rest of my life. It was awesome. Miss Utah was definitely a highlight and that was in the beginning of June so that was awesome”. She greatly appreciates the community for supporting her over her reign as Miss Carbon County.
