USU Eastern is gearing up for the 2021-2022 school year with school set to start on Monday, August 30. Students will be arriving to campus prior to the start date and a community gathering is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 28. Director of Students, Kevin Hurst was able to sit down with Castle Country Radio to discuss the details of the gathering.

“So its our Blue Blast Block Party and so students can move in the week before the semester begins on Monday. So we’ll have students on campus and that Saturday is a great day to invite community members to campus, engage with the students, and inform students what’s available to them here in our community,” said Hurst. This is a wonderful opportunity for local businesses to introduce their business and/or services to incoming students. If you would like to be a part of this gathering you can contact Allie Chamberlain at (435) 613-5559.

There is still time to register for the Fall Semester and there are even scholarships available for those that qualify. “We would love to have you start with us on August 30 if that’s a good fit for you. If you’re wanting to jump in we can still get your applied, get you admitted, get you registered for classes. We still have scholarships available, so ways to pay for school. If that’s not a good fit, we have a second seven-week offering that we have a few classes you can take the second seven-weeks of the semester or we’d love to get you started for Spring,” stated Hurst. Student Support Services is willing to assist with registration and with any other questions potential students may have about starting school.

One of the scholarships that is available is the newly developed Hometown Scholarship. “Yes, so the Hometown Scholarship is geared towards residents of Carbon and Emery County. So if you’re a brand new student, so starting your first year in college this year or a transfer student meaning you have never attended at USU Eastern before you would qualify for a Hometown Scholarship if you’re from Carbon and Emery County. In essence, it’s a half-tuition scholarship and so you’ll automatically get a half-tuition scholarship and it stacks on top of other scholarships and things you qualify for,” stated Hurst. There are still departmental and private scholarships available too, plus there is still time to apply for federal financial aid.
