The Carbon County 4-H program is excited to offer participants an opportunity to showcase the items they worked on this summer. This is going to take place at the Carbon County Administration Building at 751 East 100 North in Price. 4-H Program Coordinator, DeLayna Barr took time to come into Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details.
“The 4-H members have done a lot of fun things this last year and we just wanted to give them an opportunity to showcase what they have done. So that’s what we’ve got going on and August 23 4-H members can bring their projects to our office and we’ll get them all ready. But on August 25 everything is going to be displayed in our county administration building and we invite the community to come and see what’s been going on,” stated Barr. Because the county is not having a County Fair this is a chance for 4-H members to showcase their items to the public whether that be sewing, photography, art work such as paintings, and even baking.
Any individuals that wish to submit an item to be displayed are urged to contact the USU Extension Office. “Well, they can call our office and there is a website that we’ll direct you to, but call us. Even on the flyer you got on your website will help out with that and all the information that’s needed. Then you’ll bring your projects into us, we’ll get them set up, and then they’ll be on display on August 25,” explained Barr. The website can be accessed by visiting https://countyfair.usu.edu/ or call the USU Extension Office at (435) 636-3233.
It’s time once again for open enrollment for the 4-H Program. “Usually, membership is $10.00 for the whole year but if you do it in September, 50 percent off so only $5.00 for your kids to have a year’s worth of learning, and friendships, and knowledge, it will be great,” stated Barr. Parents who would like to sign up their children for 4-H can contact of USU Extension Office or stop by their office at 751 East 100 North, Suite 1700.
There will be an open house held in September for parents and children to learn more about the 4-H program. “Well, we have a really neat event September 16 that we’re going to invite parents to come and find out what 4-H can do for your child. From the leadership to scholarships, to just to learn by doing is our specialty and growing youth leadership in our county,” said Barr. Further details of this event will come at a later time.
