Price City Mayor Michael Kourianos stopped by the KOAL Newsroom last week to talk about how things are going in Price City. Like most other cities and towns in the area, water was a major part of the discussion. He also gave updates on the road construction and then talked about the upcoming “Day of Caring” that is happening on September 11.
One of the first things that Kourianos wanted to talk about is water, and what a great job the community is doing.
“So as far as water, I would like to do a shout out to the residents of Carbon County. Everybody is doing a very good job cutting back on their water usage, being water wise and good stewards. We’re seeing that in our process plant.”
Kourianos also talked about how they can compare records to last year and they are seeing how much less water is being used.
He then dicussed the different entities in the area like the school district and university who have created a partnership with the city, sharing different ideas as to how to save water.
“The college has a smart water system, and so Price City and the university, because we share the ownership of a baseball field, we’re going to put that smart water system in that baseball field, partnering with the university. That’s the kind of things that are happening and it’s exciting as an elected official.”
When discussing road construction, first he wanted to thank everyone for their patience. He was happy to report that 4th avenue is complete, and that asphalt on 7th East and 3rd East is not that far off.
” 300 East because of school, you know high school, university, that’s a main road. 300 East has two more weeks and then we’ll have asphalt there. Thank you for being patient everyone, I appreciate it.”
He then talked about how once 300 East is done, the next project will be in front of the Wave Pool from 300 East to 100 East.
Kourianos finished up his conversation talking about the “Day of Caring” that is coming up on September 11. The event, that is being put together by Megan Cummings of the United Way of Eastern Utah, looks for projects in the area and then puts volunteers together on those projects.
“For Price City residents, if there is an area of concern, let me know and I will put it as a work scope for Megan. As an elected official, our phone numbers are on the Price City website. You can call my cell phone, you can call council members and let them know and then we will talk with Megan and get it on the work scope and get it accomplished.”
