The Utah High School Activities Association released the initial RPI standings for girls soccer today. With most teams reaching the half way point of the season, the way these numbers unfold will ultimately let teams know where they will rank come tournament time.

Morgan, the defending 3A Champions sit atop the list at 5-1. Ogden, Manti, Juan Diego and Grantsville round out the top five, with Carbon just on the outside at No.6 and Emery landing at No. 19.

Carbon is sitting at a 5-2 mark and will begin region play on Thursday when they welcome No. 11 Richfield to town.

Emery is carrying with them a 2-8 record and has one region loss to No. 9 Canyon View. Thursday they take to the road and face the Grand County Red Devils who hold the No.14 position.

The RPI will now be updated on a daily basis as statistics of each game are entered.

The RPI standings are determined by three statistically categories:

*MWP (Modified Winning Percentage): Divide the number of possible points by the number of total available points from games played accounting for the adjustment between classifications.

*OWP (Opponents Winning Percentage): Average of the winning percentage of a team’s opponent.

*OOWP (Opponents’ Opponents Winning Percentage): Same process as OWP except the calculation is with the opponents of the team’s opponent.
