The Pinnacle Panther baseball team has struggled this year on the field. Fighting their way through the season and currently sitting at 1-12, the Panthers headed to Orderville on Wednesday, to face Valley Buffalos. The Buffalos started quick and earned the 12-2 victory.
Valley is one of the top programs in 1A, and they looked every bit of it as they jumped out to a 9-0 lead through the first three innings. The Panthers were able to find some offense in the top of the fourth when Peyton Riley sent a shot to right field that allowed Michael Schmitz to score. Then again in the fifth inning, a Delbert Lain single to left was enough to bring McGuire Kocks home.
Offensively for the Panthers, Schmitz and Riley both collected two hits with Schmitz adding a run and Riley an RBI. Lain went on to add one hit and an RBI and Kocks collected a hit and scored the other run for Pinnacle.
On the mound, Brendin Bigelow got the start. He would go one inning, giving up three earned runs and struck out two. Kocks came in going three and surrendered nine runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out six.
Pinnacle will be on the road on Friday to face the Panguitch Bobcats. Tuesday they will be on the road again to take on the Tintic Miners. They will return home Wednesday to face Green River.
