Bode Salas and Daron Garner finished as the top two individual golfers to lead the Carbon Dinos to a second place finish Thursday afternoon at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course.

Carbon ended with a team score of 313, finishing seven strokes back of Richfield. Emery came in a distant third with a 339, easily topping fourth place Canyon View’s 352. Grand completed the field of five in last.

Salas continued to pace the Dinos as he fired a 71, one stroke better than Garner’s 72. Kyler Clark was third on the team with an 82 and Branden Scovill logged the team’s fourth score with an 88.

While the Dinos claimed the top two spots individually, it was Richfield that finished inside the next four spots. The consistent team performance was enough for the Wildcats to extend their lead at the top of the division standings to 19-strokes.

Only four meets remain on the schedule ahead of the 3A State Championships in October. The teams will next travel to Green River, which will take the place of Millsite as the home site for the Emery Spartans, on Thursday, Sept. 9.
