The Carbon Dino volleyball team started their region schedule on the road on Friday in Moab to face the Grand County Red Devils. Carbon had made it through the early portion of their season with just one loss at the hands of the defending 3A State Champions, the Union Cougars. Facing Grand was not an easy task either taking four sets, but the Dinos walked away with the 3-1 win.
The Dinos were pushed to the brink in the first set losing 30-28, after that it was all Carbon, winning the next three sets 25-22, 25-19 and 25-17.
Madi Orth led Carbon with 19 kills in the contest, she would also gather 16 digs along with Benett Peterson who would also rack up 35 assists. Lyndee Mower collected 27 digs to go along with her 17 kills and Janzie Jensen added 21 digs and 10 kills.
Carbon will dive into the heart of their region schedule in the coming weeks as the season winds it’s way through September and into the first two weeks of October when they will begin tournament play.
The Dinos won’t be on the court again until Thursday, when they welcome the North Summit Braves, in a non-region contest, to the gym in Price. The Braves are a 2A team from Coalville, and the two teams have never faced off before. Game time is set for 6:30.
On Friday they will be on the road to take on the Canyon View Falcons in Cedar City.
