The American Legion Post 3 would like to invite the entire community out for their Remembrance Ceremony of those killed, honor those who sacrificed and recognize those who served on 9/11. The event will take place on Saturday, September 11 at 10:00 am at the Price City Peace Garden on Main Street. Event organizer, David Jelin shared all the details of the ceremony.
“This ceremony we are going to highlight the actual casualties in the buildings when those two jets went in. We’re going to talk about the firefighters and the other first responders who ran into those buildings. We’re also going to talk a little bit about Flight 93, where the passengers fought with the terrorists to take over because they had heard what happened to the other two flights, and we’ll touch on the flight that hit the Pentagon as well,” said Jelin. Guests are urged to bring their lawn chairs to sit and enjoy the presentation.
The ceremony will feature speakers from Price City Fire, Carbon County Sheriff’s Office and other local law enforcement officials. “Basically, a little history, a lot of appreciation for the first responders. I know that most of us in this community were not there but there were some. The other is what it’s cost us as a community and as a society in the last 20 years and we’re going to touch on Afghanistan not the politics part of it but the history of it, up to and including the last explosion with 13 dead and far more wounded, so we’re going to honor all of them,” stated Jelin.
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic Veteran’s organization devoted to mutual helpfulness.
