The Carbon cross country teams were back on the course on Wednesday in Rose Park. Once again Kobe Cruz was the top finisher on the boys side for the Dinos, taking second overall in the competition.

This marks the sixth meet for the Dinos, who started the season back on Aug. 14. Both the boys and girls teams have fared well this season with just three meets left.

Wednesday’s meet had different divisions for freshmen/sophomores and juniors/seniors. On the junior and senior side Jess Christiansen of Emery finished in the No. 1 spot turning in a time of 16:14.8, Cruz crossed the finish in second at 16:45.8. Paul Squire of Union, Andrew Wadley of Viewmont and Jett Davenport of Union rounded out the top five.

Cruz is making quite a name for himself this season with five top three finishes, including the No. 1 spot at the Juab Invitational on Sept. 7.

Braxton Ware, Pierce Bryner, Garrett Black and Sean Stromness were the top finishers for Carbon in the junior/senior division, finishing in the eighth spot out of 15 teams.

The freshman/sophomore class ran just before the upperclassmen, and it was Easton Humes that crossed the finish line in fifth place for the Dinos with a time of 18:13.4. Viewmont’s Gabe Hooper grabbed the top position crossing the finish at 17:14.18. Bradley Sweeny, Logan McEvoy, Jared Bryson and Mason Engar finished in Carbon’s top five. Out of 16 teams the Dinos came in eighth place.

Beverly Lancaster was the first Dino to cross the finish on the girls side in eighth place with a time of 21:06.8. Hailey Low of Layton claimed first place for Layton in a time of  18:39.9. Shelby Jensen and Makayla Pitcher of West Lake, Abigail Case of Mountain Crest and Ruby Ludlow of Dixie rounded out the top five.

Ambree Jones, Lindsie Fausett and Kaylie Metzger also competed in the junior and senior division for the Dinos.

Sophie Taylor was the top finisher for the Dinos in the freshmen/sophomore division with a time of 22:01.5, which put her in seventh place overall. Ada Bradford, Ellie Hanson, Mariah George and Lilly Seeley also competed for Carbon in the division. The Dinos finished the day in fourth place out of 13 teams.

Carbon won’t need to travel far for their next meet, The Carbon Invitational. Carbon Golf Course will be the backdrop on Wednesday, and races are set to begin at 3 p.m..
