The Utah High School Activities Association has released its final 1A baseball RPI rankings, giving both Pinnacle and Green River their 2021 playoff matchups.

Finishing with a 4-20 record, Pinnacle will enter the single elimination tournament as the No. 13 seed. Green River, who ended with a 1-18 record, will be the 14 seed.

The playoffs will officially begin on Friday, Oct. 1 as the bottom six seeds play to advance to the second round on Oct. 2. The top four seeds all receive byes to the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Oct. 5.

Piute will enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed after finishing the regular season unbeaten at 20-0. Panguitch, Tabiona, Wayne and Bryce Valley round out the top five seeds.

Pinnacle’s opening round opponent will be against Intermountain Christian, who is ranked 12th with a record of 9-9, at the Spanish Fork Sports Park at 1:00 p.m..

Green River will square off with No. 11 Tintic in the very next game, scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.. Tintic finished the regular season with a record of 8-11.

The RPI standings are determined by three statistically categories:

*MWP (Modified Winning Percentage): Divide the number of possible points by the number of total available points from games played accounting for the adjustment between classifications.

*OWP (Opponents Winning Percentage): Average of the winning percentage of a team’s opponent.

*OOWP (Opponents’ Opponents Winning Percentage): Same process as OWP except the calculation is with the opponents of the team’s opponent.
