Helper’s First Friday Celebration will take place on Friday, October 1 at 6:00 pm on Helper’s Historic Main Street and this month’s theme is Oktoberfest. There will be many fun activities and events for the entire family to enjoy. Event Sponsor, Steve Adams took time to stop by Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details.
The event organizers have scheduled to have live entertainment by George Staheli Memorial Oompa Band. “They are coming from a good ways away to entertain everybody, looks like its going to be a blast. We thought maybe it was a polka thing but Oompa band is a thing and so you’ve got to come out and find out what an Oompa band is and what they’re doing. It looks really fun,” stated Adams. The band will perform on the Main Street Stage so be sure to bring your lawn chairs.
There will be several contests held like a Yodeling Contest hosted by Miss Castle Valley Teen, Tatum Tatton. Adams talks about the beer stein races, “The beer stein relay is you have to run with a beer stein full of beer without spilling it and you relay to a partner. That’s going to be fun, we’ll have to see how that plays out, could be a lot of laughs.” Of course, participants must be 21 years of age to join in on the fun. There will be a contest for the Best Lederhosen and Inga contest too.
Helper’s First Friday event will have several activities for the kids to enjoy as the Helper Saturday Vibes Committee are providing bouncers for the children. There will also be food vendors and the local restaurants open for folks to enjoy dinner. Of course, there will be art exhibits up and down the city’s Main Street. “We’ve got Lisa Chamberlain at K2 Gallery and the name of her exhibit, she’s sculptor, and the name of her exhibit is When We Were Frogs which is really great, I’ve seen it, it’s fantastic,” said Adams. The K2 Gallery is located at 102 South Main Street.
The monthly gathering is being brought to you by Bug & Bird Mercantile and Adams Fine Art. “I just need to thank a few people. I would like to thank Ashley Hardy and Aaron Lee at Canvas Alchemy, Greg and Becky Driggs, Mayor Peterman, Mark Montoya, Jana Larsen, and Kenny Driggs who is doing all our lighting for the band and everything, without these guys, this doesn’t happen. So anyway, everybody come on out, it’s going to be a blast,” stated Adams.
