The Carbon girls tennis team ended the regular season against Millard on Thursday and traveled to Richfield for the Region 12 Tournament on Friday. The match with Millard went to the Dinos 5-0, and then the Lady Dinos would claim a region championship on Friday.

Carbon started out on Thursday facing the Millard Eagles, and it was a perfect sweep for the Dinos 5-0.

In first singles, Lindsay Snow claimed the 6-0, 6-0 win, Lizzy Blackburn also had a straight set victory in second singles 6-1 and 6-0. Audrey Hatch earned the win in third singles 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3.

On the doubles side Kaydance Scovill and Laurie Parry won their match 6-2 and 6-4, with the team of Alyssa Ellis and Ella Anderson taking the 6-2, 6-1 victory in their match.

On Friday they were on the road in Richfield where the Dinos came home with the Region 12 Championship.

In the first singles match Lindsey Snow was defeated by Aubrei Jorgensen of Richfield, 6-3 and 6-4. Lizzy Blackburn would take the top spot in second singles beating Kiera Hunt from Canyon View 6-2 and 6-0. Lieke Vervweij was the top finisher in third singles, finishing off Harper Smith from Richfield 6-1 and 6-0.

In first doubles the team of Kaydance Scovill and Laurie Parry finished in second, losing to Charolotte Poulson and Amrie Sorenson of Richfield 6-4, 5-7 ,2-6. The second doubles team of Alyssa Ellis and Ella Anderson claimed the top spot after their victory over Mya Deaton and Laken Larsen of South Sevier, 6-4 and 6-3.

The 3A State Championships will start this Friday at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City. The Dinos already know who their first round match-ups will be with all of the brackets online.

In the first singles bracket, Lindsay Snow will enter as the No.2 seed from Region 12 and will face Region 15 No. 3 seed Valeria Rico of Juan Diego. Second singles will see Lizzy Blackburn the No. 1 seed from Region 12 taking on the No.4 seed from Region 13, Ben Lomond’s Kendra Sandberg. Lieke Verweij, another No.1 seed for Carbon faces Hallie Henrie the No. 4 seed from Region 14 out of North Sanpete.

On the doubles side of the court, Kaydance Scovill and Laurie Parry, Region 12 No. 2 seed will face Region 15 No. 3 seed out of Maeser Prep Megan Grant and Clare Perkins. And Alyssa Ellis and Ella Anderson the No.1 seed will face Jet Russell and Maya Grajek the No.4 seed from South Summit.
