The Lady Dinos opened state tournament play on Wednesday afternoon on their field in Price hosting the Juab Wasps. This was the second time this season that the two teams would face-off with the Dinos taking the first match 3-1 back on Aug. 19. Carbon found the back of the net twice in the contest and held Juab scoreless, allowing the Dinos to move on in state playoff competition.

The Dinos entered tournament play winning five of their last six contests and were looking to continue that trend as Amiah Timothy scored one goal, putting her season total at 25 landing her in the ninth spot in the state. Beverly Lancaster also added another goal and Emma Flemmet turned in a 12 save performance and collected her sixth save of the season.

Carbon will be back on the field on Saturday when they will travel to Ogden to face the Tigers.

Ogden is the No. 3 team in the state with a 13-4 season record, they are coming off an 8-0 dismantling of the South Summit Wildcats on Wednesday.

The match Saturday is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at Ogden High. If the Dinos win they will advance to the semi-final round of four playing on Oct. 21 at Jordan High School. Carbon made it to the quarterfinal round last season losing to eventual State Champion Morgan, 6-1.
