The Carbon cross country team traveled to Rose Park on Wednesday to take part in the 3A State Championships. After a top finish by the Lady Dinos in the Region 12 Championship in Cedar City the ladies team would go on to take the No.2 spot in 3A behind the Ogden Tigers. The boys team would earn a top five finish coming in fourth place.

Beverly Lancaster was the top finisher for the Carbon ladies taking second place overall with a time of 19:33.7 just five seconds off the pace set by Ethan Stevens of Juan Diego who claimed the top spot in 3A. Sadie Nielsen of Manti, Lydia Forsyth of Canyon View and Jaylee Jenkins of Union were the top ladies individual finishers.

Carbon’s Ambree Jones crossed the finish in 11th place overall. Sophia Taylor (20), Lindsee Fausett (24), Mariah George (30), Elle Hanson (33) and Ada Bradford (40) also took part in the race for the Dinos in the field of over 90 runners.

Overall it was Ogden that took the top spot on the ladies side. Carbon, Morgan, Canyon View and Manti rounded out the top five.

On the men’s side, Kobe Cruz was Carbon’s top finisher taking seventh place overall turning in a time of 16:18.9. The top spot went to Jack Blodgett of Ogden with a time of 15:50.  Richard Crane of Richfield High School, Jess Christiansen of Emery and Paul Squire and Jett Davenport of Union made up the top five individual performers.

Braxton Ware (20), Garrett Black (27), Easton Humes (31), Nathan Engar (32), Pierce Bryner (37) and Bradley Sweeny (53) all competed for the Dinos in a crowded field with over 95.

Ogden took the top place on the boy’s side as well followed by Richfield, Union, Carbon and Emery.
