The Lady Dino volleyball team had their 2021 season come to an end on Thursday in the consolation bracket of the 3A State Championship Tournament. The Dinos dropped a four set match against Layton Christian Academy at Utah Valley University in Orem.

Carbon entered the tournament as the No.3 seed on Wednesday and dropped their opening round match with Richfield. Falling into the lower bracket they faced Manti knowing that the next loss would send them home. They would make quick work of them in straight sets.

Thursday morning they were one of the early matches starting at 8:00. The Dinos and Layton Christian haven’t faced each other this season but against common opponents this year Carbon was 4-0 and Layton Christian went 2-2.

Layton Christian jumped out taking the first set 25-18 and the second 25-22. Carbon pushed the next set taking the 28-26 win but Layton Christian came back to take the fourth and final set 26-24.

Layton Christian would take the eighth spot in 3A as they fell to sixth place Canyon View in five sets.

In a rematch from last season the Morgan Trojans and defending champion Union Cougars are playing for the 3A Championship. Emery finishes the season in third and Richfield and Delta earned fourth and fifth places.
