The Carbon School District weekly update shines the spotlight on Carbon High School this week so Castle Country Radio had the opportunity to sit down with Carbon High School Principal Jared Hardy to talk about the end of the first quarter, how parents can check student’s grade and a construction update.
“We just ended our first quarter last week, it’s amazing to see how fast it went but the kids have worked hard and got their grades in and done a pretty good job for that first quarter,” said Principal Hardy. The school held parent/teacher conferences and they went well. Parents and students were able to meet with each of their teachers to discuss any concerns they may have had at the time.
Parents can closely monitor their student’s academics through the SIS program. “Parents are able to create a parent account through our SIS System, they can login and they can see their student’s attendance, see their grades, see how they’re doing, see contact information for the teachers and all that. If you’re not sure how to do that you’re welcome to call the office at Carbon High School and our secretaries can walk you through how to set up that account, it’s really easy. That way you can check on your student see how they are doing, and communicate with the teachers if needed,” stated Principal Hardy. This is a wonderful tool for parents to utilize so that they can keep a watchful eye on their student’s grades and attendance.
The construction process is moving along and soon the students will have their arts wing open. “Things are coming along really well, our arts wing is really coming along, we’re getting close to opening that. Our new band, drama, art room and choir rooms they are getting very close to opening soon, so it’s plugging along. They’re still getting windows changed out around the gyms and things like that, but we’re really making progress,” explained Principal Hardy. Right now the arts classrooms are located behind the school in modular buildings so it will be nice to get those classrooms inside the school for safety reasons.
