The Carbon Dino swim team is ready for the new year. For the boys team, it will give them a chance to build off of what they started last season, and for the girls team the chance to win yet another state championship, their fourth in a row. The season started in earnest on Tuesday at the Emery Aquatic Center. The ladies claimed the top spot with the men taking third.

The Lady Dinos claimed a total of  seven different first place finishes putting them in the top spot with 375 points. Emery would take second with 292, Richfield, South Sevier and North Sevier rounded out the top five.

The girls 200 medley got the day started for the Dinos. The team of Alyssa Chamberlain, Mia Crompton, Tyrca Jaramillo and Thaylyn Lyman took the top spot turning in a time of 2:10.87.  The other two Carbon teams finished in second and third place.

Jaramillo also earned a first place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:47.96.

The 50 yard free was by far Carbon’s best event with seven Dinos finishing in the top ten. Lyman led the pack at 27.08. Hadley Bower grabbed third place, and Ember Lyman fifth.

Carbon claimed the top two spots in the 500 yard free as Ada Bradford claimed the top spot with a time of 7:14.02 and Logan Odendahl finished right behind at 7:20.36.

The 200 free relay team of Chamberlain, Jaramillo, Bower and Thalyn Lyman earned a first place finish with a time of 1:53.16.

Alyssa Chamberlain led the way for the Dinos in the 100 yard backstroke, with Evie Halk grabbing third.

And in the girls 400 free relay the team of Bradford, Hadley Bower, Katelyn Bower and Ellie Hanson turned in a time of 4:42.93 to finish just ahead of the team from Emery.

Gabe Ibanez began his campaign this season grabbing the top spot in the 200 yard free for the Carbon men. Ibanez was a standout for the Carbon team last year breaking a school record that stood for 16 years, he will be looking to improve on his time this year. Ibanez also finished in first place in the 500 free in a time of 5:33.77 more than one minute ahead of second place.

In the 200 yard free relay the Carbon boys team of Ibanez,Tommy Dalpiaz, Spencer Tullis  and Camden Chamberlain finished in second, just six seconds behind first place Emery.

The team from Emery would claim first place on the boys side with 329.5. Richfield finished in second Carbon and South Sevier made up the remaining competing teams.

The Dinos return to the pool next weekend at the Cedar Invitational on Nov. 12-13.
