Helper Middle School is being highlighted on this week’s Carbon School District weekly update and Castle Country Radio was able to speak with Principal Robert Bradley about how the school’s construction project is coming along.
“We’ve got the exterior brick just about done they started interior drywall. The windows should be coming in and in the next couple of weeks, they’ll start putting heat into the buildings so they can do a lot of the finished work. There’s still a lot that needs to happen before we can move in. We’re still anticipating a transition around spring break,” stated Principal Bradley. Once the construction is finished in the new portion this will allow for students to utilize the new lunchroom and classrooms in that area.
Once students are able to occupy the new building there is some work that will need to be done to the old existing building. “So that then the connection to the old portion of the building that is staying and has been remodeled can be made, there’s a hallway that has to be built and canopy for the entrance, all of that has to be done and can’t be done because it goes through are existing kitchen. So there is some work that still has to be done but some accommodations we’ll have to make and move halfway through the year,” said Principal Bradley. The plan is to be moved into the new building during the Spring Break. Once the construction is completed school officials will host an Open House for the public to come to visit the school.
Principal Bradley also brought in with him to the weekly radio update members of the drama department who have been busy doing Shakespearean skits and have plans to perform a production of Moulan in the spring. He also brought in a few young ladies who are cheerleaders that briefly spoke on how they are gearing up for winter sports such as wrestling and basketball. They will also be a part of the live entertainment at the Christmas Craft Fair this weekend.
