Arlene Bonello passed away on Thanksgiving morning, November 25, 2021, of age related causes.

Born January 4, 1929 in Standardville, Utah on her father’s 21st birthday. She was the first of five daughters born to Jason Hunter Jowell Jr. and Geneva Gertrude Powell. Her great-grandfather, John Ammon Powell Sr. was one of the early Price settlers in 1879.

She grew up and attended elementary schools in Helper, Wellington and Price during the Great Depression years. She graduated from Carbon High School in 1947. In September, 1947 she entered nurse’s training in the Salt Lake County General Hospital and University of Utah College of Nursing. She received a BS degree in nursing in June, 1951.

On October 17, 1953 she married the love of her life, Mario Robert Bonello at St. Ann’s in Salt Lake City. They returned to Price to begin their lives together.

January 1, 1954 she started working at the Price City Hospital, later named Carbon County Hospital in 1958, which was to become Castleview Hospital. She worked in surgery and then transferred to obstetrics. After 37 years working as a RN, she retired January 1, 1991 as her health began to fail.

Survived by her son, Richard and his wife Marcella (Marcie) Bonello; daughter, Marlene and her husband, George Gurule; granddaughter, Kassandra, her husband Mitchell Behling and their children Katrina, Daniel and Hanna; grandson, Mario Gurule; step-grandchildren, Joshua (Crystal), Jennifer (Tim) and Hayley Powell. Her sisters, who were also her life-long best friends: Juanita (Emil, deceased) Tomsic, Jaselene (Lamond) Williams, Pat (Gary) Lewis and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Mario (1964), her parents, her sister, Merlene (Harold) Poloni, beloved in-laws: mother-in-law, Maria Bonello and sisters-in-law and their husbands Anna (Frank) Saccomano and Laura (Louis) Vetere. Also her many loved dogs.

Per Arlene’s request there will be a private family gathering on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 11:00 am. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
