The Emery Spartan swim team made the trip to Cedar City for the Canyon View Invitational last weekend. With 15 schools in each of the boys and girls divisions, the meet was one of the largest so far this season. Both of the Spartan teams, girls and boys, finished the competition in tenth place.
In the girls division, It was Cedar City taking the top spot followed by Springville, Maple Mountain, Snow Canyon and host team Canyon View making up the top five. The Lady Spartans occupy the 10th spot.
The Emery Relay team of Abigail Johansen, Cambrie Jensen, Abigail Morris and Aubrey Guymon finished the 200 free in seventh out of 20 teams with a time of 1:59.52. Guymon also competed in the 100 fly taking seventh place and Jensen would place ninth in the 100 backstroke out of over 40 swimmers.
On the boys side of the pool, the team from Cedar claimed first as well followed by host team Canyon View, Crimson Cliffs, Juan Diego and Snow Canyon. The Spartans landed in tenth.
The boys had strong showings in relays with the team of Dax Minchey, Kyler Minchey, Jacob Fauver and Kegley Terry landed in the eighth spot in the 200 medley out of 21 teams, they also placed in seventh in the 200 free relay. Dax Minchey took a fourth place finish in the 50 free.
In the 400 free relay, Tyler Frandsen, Kade Larsen, William Stilson and Bryant Durrant claimed the tenth position with a time of 4:08.36.
The Spartans will hit the pool again this Friday when they travel to Moab to take on the Grand County Red Devils.
