The USU Eastern Theatre Department is excited to be hosting their second production of the year entitled As You Like It by William Shakespeare. This showing can be seen on Thursday, December 9 through Saturday, December 11 at 7:30 pm at the CIB Black Box Theatre.

“Well first of all I set it in the 1950s, so don’t think that you’ll be stuck in Elizabethan England with very formal presentation, we’re having a lot of fun with it. I made an ad dictation for ten actors to be an ensemble piece. Definitely playing up the brood comedy but also the sweet touching romance. It’s a really lovely, touching piece but absolutely your expectations should be out the window. It’s two tight 50-minute acts, many, many laughs, and many surprises,” stated Director, Thia Stephan. The actors have enjoyed working with the guest director for the show and are looking forward to sharing this production with the community.

Stephan was recently in London following a director and watching the shows re-open. She was so excited to have the opportunity to come to the states and direct As You Like It at USU Eastern. “This is my first time ever directing it. So I came up with this adaption specifically geared toward this school, this program, what I thought would really work for this area,” stated Stephan. She has enjoyed her time here at the university working on the show with the students.

The Black Box Theatre is located inside the CIB Building on the campus of USU Eastern. “We open at 7:00 pm, the Black Box opens at 7:00 pm for ticket prices. Tickets start at $12.00 for adults, $9.00 for seniors, $7.00 for high school students both in Emery and Carbon, $7.00 for USU Faculty/Staff/Alumni, and $3.00 for USU Students except for on this Wednesday USU-E Students get into for free,” stated Student Actor, Patrick Pulk.
