Ramon Otto Ellis, 88, went home to our Heavenly Father on Friday, December 10, 2021.
Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend whose life focus was on his family. He was born on June 13, 1933 to Alice Eveline Johnson and George Otto Ellis in Moab, Utah where he spent the early years of his life.
After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army and traveled around Europe playing basketball for them. He later moved to East Carbon, Utah and married the love of his life, Joyce Allred on December 11, 1971. He retired after working 35 years in the potash, uranium and coal industries as a miner and Master Electrician.
His last fifty years were filled with many days of taking his grandkids on camping and fishing trips, traveling the United States by car with his wife Joyce, and serving others whenever a need arose. His life was the epitome of Christlike service. He served and served and served, even when his own back was about ready to give out. Never complaining, but always willing to give a helping hand. Ray was tall in stature, but he was also spiritually tall. He and Joyce worked in the Manti Temple weekly, for 14 years. Ray was a friend to all and never had a bad word to say about others. He just accepted people as they were.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years Joyce Ellis, daughters Kathy Lemon (Jerry) and Teri Stevenson of East Carbon and son Kenneth Ray Ellis of Salt Lake City, along with 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
