Juanita “Teda” Wilson Merrick passed away on December 13, 2021, to smiles and hugs from the love of her life Willie, her family and friends that passed before her.

She was born on May 20, 1929, in Sunnyside, Utah to James and Kate Hatter Wilson.  Teda was the youngest of 15 children.

At the age on 19, she married Willis “Willie” Merrick in March of 1948.  Upon Willie’s return from the Air Force, they moved to Ogden, where Willie went to work at Hill Air Force Base.  They spent many loving and joyful years together, playing with the Browns – Teda’s elder sister’s family.  Willie passed away in 2007, and she moved to Price to be closer to her siblings.

Teda and Eddie were the last sister and brother of the 15 siblings. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willis; siblings, Alice, Katie, Jimmy, Clarence, Charlie, Thelma, Woody, Mae, Johnny, Bernice, Irene, Sterling and Dora.  As they grew up a part of the Moose Lodge, they all loved music and to dance.

In the years after moving back to Price, Troy took care of her until she herself became ill.  Teda was a very independent lady who liked to do things her way.  Moving to the nursing home wasn’t what she would have liked, but fortunately her roommate was her sister Dora.  Together, they were feisty as hell.

Teda took great joy from her nieces, nephews, family and friends.  She loved her daughter (adopted) Karen Peterson and Karen’s grandson Sam; she missed them so much.  Theresa Teeter came to visit often after Teda moved to Price.  Teda’s stories about living in Ogden were always full of mischievous fun.

Teda had a lot of help and wanted to give a big thanks go to Judie Mangum, a friend who became family for the love and care she gave her; to Becky Richens and her sweet boys and husband Jon; to Bill Ivie and Herb Roberts who visited often; and her brother Eddie.  She always got excited about their visits.

We would like to thank Parkdale and their staff for the many years of care they gave to Teda.  We would also like to thank Symbii Home Health and Hospice staff, especially Rick, Michaela, Candice, Alison and Andrew. A special thanks to Holly Horrocks for taking Teda in as one of her own, she had a way to keep her giggling and smiling.
