The Community Cares Neighbors Helping Neighbors Annual Christmas Dinner will take place on Christmas Day from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This free event will be held inside the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center on the campus of USU-Eastern. Castle Country Radio sat down with Event Representative, Stephanie Kaw to discuss how this event got started.

“It is a community group; it is a non-profit organization called Community Cares. You know we just wanted to spread some Christmas cheer and we truly have a mission statement that no one deserves to be alone on Christmas and so we formed a committee of few years ago and ever since then we’ve done this every year, for the exception of last year,” said Kaw. The event was not held last year due to the COVID pandemic so organizers are really looking forward to mingling with the community members this year.

“Initially we do have an indoor Christmas Dinner, it’s your traditional turkey, ham dinner and you can come on into the college at the Jennifer Leavitt Center. We have entertainment, we have a lot of things going on, a children’s center where they can put together cookies. So it’s an amazing time,” stated Kaw. This is a free dinner for all ages to attend. There will be live musical entertainment to enjoy throughout the dinner. There is also a shuttle service available to and from the event if you do not have transportation.

“This program is not strictly for people without, you know, a place to go, it’s just you know a place that everyone can gather, just so you’re not alone on Christmas or you just want to spend a good time with your family and friends, that’s what we’re all about,” explained Kaw. If you would like to volunteer, arrange a ride to the event or make a monetary donation towards the cause please call (435) 820-6631 or (435) 820-8140.
