
Coming off a 66-56 loss on Wednesday the Dinos were back on the court Friday night to welcome the Uintah Utes to Price. Senior Jackson Griffeth’s 30 points led all scorers but was not enough as the Dinos fell 61-51 to the Utes in front of the home crowd.
Uintah jumped up to the 5A class this season and have quickly made their way to a 6-2 record this season. Saturday the 11, they defeated the Emery Spartans in Vernal and last Wednesday they beat the Union Cougars in Roosevelt. The Dinos beat the Cougars in the second game of the season in November.
In this one Uintah jumped out to a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and had pushed it to 26-18 at the half. Carbon matched the Utes point total in the third scoring 18 and also played fairly even in the fourth 17-15, but were never quite able to overcome the deficit losing by 10.
Griffeth added three rebounds and four steals to go with his 30. Ashton Ferguson had five with seven boards and Paxton Kimber and Braxton Stevenson scored four each with Stevenson adding three rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Up next for the Dinos a road trip Tuesday night to Nephi to face the 3A defending state champion Juab Wasps.
After that the moratorium will kick in and the Dinos will get back on the floor on January 7 when they travel to take on American Leadership Academy.
