Owen J Bringhurst, our loving father, grandfather, and brother passed away while surrounded by loved ones on December 16, 2021 in Price, Utah.

Owen was born December 29, 1949 to his loving parents, Jesse Maurice Bringhurst and Betty Lou Bird in Price, Utah. From a young age Owen learned to love the outdoors, farming, and the benefit of hard work. As he became a man he became passionate about hunting, fishing, and being with family. He was very adventurous and loved to take the road less traveled.

Owen Bringhurst married Beverly Schmidt in 1969. They were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Tabitha and Lindsey.  Though Owen and Beverly divorced, they were gifted with five grandchildren, Alexis, Brecklynn, Charley, Asher, and Carma, who were the light of his life. Owen loved his family dearly and was an influential member to many. Owen was a father figure to many nephews whom he considered his own and helped raise them into honorable men.

Being an entrepreneur, Owen grew to build a successful excavating business that he managed for decades and provided for his family. When Owen wasn’t on a construction site or re-building his 1973 Ford, he could be found running dogs over the hills of Joe’s Valley, tending to his garden that was always bigger than life itself, or in his hunting room reloading shells. His passion was hunting and he spent much of his life out in the mountains. It was later in life he decided to settle down and live his ultimate dream of running a farm.

Owen was a passionate person and grew to overcome any challenge life threw at him. The biggest challenge of his life was his battle with MS, but he fought it head on, and never let it get the best of him, surprising many physicians along the way. He served as a mentor and example to many. His strength, love, guidance, and wisdom will be greatly missed.

Owen is survived by his children, Tabitha Bringhurst and Lindsey Carr; sisters, Jessie Lovendahl, Shauna Barker, Sheila Bringhurst, Sharon Roberts and Shelly Estrada; brother, Scott Bringhurst.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse; mother, Betty; sister, Sheryl; brother, Leo.

Memorial Service, Monday, December 27, 2021, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Salt Lake County Equestrian Center (2100 West 11400 South, South Jordan, Utah 84095). Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Owen online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
