
Our loving mother, grandmother and longtime friend, Sylvia Ardis Hunt Pilling, 97, passed away December 23, 2021 at the Heirloom Inn in Price.
Sylvia was born July 31, 1924 in Price, Utah to Moroni and Delta Cook Hunt. She married Arthur Monte Pilling, July 11, 1942 in Price, Utah; he preceded her in death on April 5, 1997. After Art’s passing, Sylvia was blessed to spend many wonderful years with Harold B. Guptill prior to his passing on November 11, 2019.
Sylvia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and a graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1942. Sylvia loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. Whether she was enjoying her winters in Yuma, Arizona, Lake Powell, going on cruises or searching for arrowheads, Sylvia was always delighted to spend her adventures with family and friends. Sylvia took great pride in and around her home and will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by two sons, Butch Pilling and Boyd Pilling, both of Wellington; seven grandchildren and 29 great and great-great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, son, Craig Pilling; daughter, Jackie Ann Frandsen; four sisters, Ennid, Leah, Lucille and Melvia; brother, Wayne Hunt; two granddaughters, Cassie Gale and Tracy Morrison; grandson, Eric Pilling; companion, Harold Guptill; and a daughter-in-law, Lucille Houskeeper.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff and residents at the Heirloom Inn for their loving care the past five years.
Funeral service, Thursday, December 30, 2021, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
