Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Ferron City Mayor Adele Justice to reflect on the past year and it was all about water conservation, improvements to golf course, and construction projects.

“We’re so proud of our citizens here in Ferron, I think we had a little tougher year to begin with because of the dam project and the low water level in the reservoir. We were in a hurting place at the first of the summer but our citizens were amazing. Conserving water, lawns died, people just kind of let things go and we made it through. We were so lucky, so blessed,” stated Mayor Justice. There was a community web page where many residents shared several ideas on ways to conserve water over the summer and city officials felt the shared ideas were genius.

There is going to be some fun and new additions added to the Millsite Golf Course that many community members will be able to enjoy. “Coming this spring we will have some golf simulators in the portion of the clubhouse that was the restaurant and we’re going to make that into a little lounge, have some simulators there so when it’s bad weather or you know you just don’t feel like getting actually out on the course you can come inside and still play golf on the simulator. We’re looking at a lot of changes up there, a lot of improvements, and I think people are going to be really happy with what they see coming,” said Mayor Justice. There will also be a fitness center facility incorporated inside the clubhouse for residents to utilize for all of their fitness needs.

The city has been busy with a construction project at the fairgrounds and it’s taking a bit longer than anticipated. “So well you know we’ve been working on new bathrooms at our fairgrounds park for more than the year. You know just hit a lot of stumbling blocks in the construction effort. A lot of it due to just the economy and changes that come about with COVID. So that’s kind of put us back this year, we were anticipating having it done this past July, but the project is still moving forward and so we’re hoping that project is completed this spring,” said Mayor Justice. The restrooms will be ADA compliant to better serve the community.
