
The Emery Lady Spartans ushered out 2021 last Thursday night in the Spartan Center by welcoming in the Union Cougars from Roosevelt. Both teams appeared to be evenly matched as this one went down to the wire with the Cougars taking the two point victory 53-51.
Union has a 3-9 record this season and is sitting at the No. 14 spot in the UHSAA RPI rankings.
Thursday’s game was very competitive with Emery taking a 29-28 lead into the locker room at the half.
Coming out in the third once again scoring was tight with Union outscoring the Spartans by three in the third quarter pushing the Cougars lead to 43-41, and then both teams played even in the fourth with Union picking up the two point win.
Tambrie Tuttle continues her great season scoring 17, going 4-of-5 from the three point stripe and grabbing five rebounds. Baylee Jacobson added 12 and Addie Lester dropped in eight with three assists.
Emery, now 10-3 and No. 4 in the RPI, will take on their first region opponent on Thursday as they travel to Richfield to take on the No. 2 Wildcats. Richfield sits at 11-2 this season with their two losses coming from the No.3 school in 3A Grantsville and the No. 5 school in 6A Riverton.
The Lady Spartans will be back home on Friday January 14 to face Canyon View.
