The Pinnacle Panthers traveled to Hurricane on Tuesday night to face the Diamond Ranch Academy Diamondbacks. The Panthers have not played a game since Dec. 16, a 63-28 win over Dugway at the Pinnacle Winter Classic. The contest with the Diamondbacks was closer than the final score, but at the end it was Diamond Ranch that took the 50-36.

Diamond Ranch is the No. 6 team in the RPI at 4-4. Previous to the game with the Panthers, the Diamondbacks had lost two in a row to Piute and Kanab.

Coming out in the first quarter, Pinnacle played almost even trailing by just three at the end of one. Diamond Ranch would outscore the Panthers by three again in the second push their half time lead to six, 24-18.

In the second half the third quarter was played square with each team putting up 12 points. The fourth is where the Diamondbacks put some distance between them and Pinnacle out scoring them 14-6.

Michael Schmitz led the Panthers with 11 while also pulling down five rebounds. Anthony Shumway and Ryker Howell dropped in six each with Shumway pulling down 11 boards and Howell collecting three. Jonathan Kessler pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss for Pinnacle.

Up next is a game at home on Saturday with the Wendover Wildcats. The Wildcats sit at 2-6 and hold the No. 19 spot in the RPI.
