The Lady Spartans were back on the floor on Thursday night in Richfield to face the Wildcats. Emery has just seven games remaining on their schedule including two non-region match-ups. The game with the Wildcats was their first meeting of the season, and it didn’t go quite to plan for the Spartans as they fell to Richfield 65-47.

Richfield sits at 12-2 and holds the No. 2 spot in the UHSAA RPI. The RPI ranks all teams in each classification after every game played, then at the end of the season it is used for seeding in the state championships which will be held at Weber State University in February.

Emery and Richfield played even in the first quarter to eight points each. The Wildcats took over the next three, out scoring the Spartans in each one.

For the Wildcats, Nicole Willardson scored 24 with her team mates Rebecca Poulsen and Hallie Janes each scoring 12.

Tatum Tanner was the beneficiary of Richfield playing Tambrie Tuttle and Brynn Gordon so tough and holding each of them to 4 points each with Tuttle grabbing six rebounds and Gordon five.  Tanner had a game high 26 points in the loss for the Spartans, she also pulled down three boards, and Baylee Jacobson added 11 with three rebounds and three steals.

The Lady Spartans will hit the floor again next Tuesday when when they travel to Draper to face Corner Canyon.

They will be back on their home floor next Friday when they get their first look at Canyon View. Game time is set for 7 at the Spartan Center.
