The Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) posts the Rating Percentage Index (RPI) daily on their website for most high school activities. These numbers are then used in the state championship tournaments to seed the teams for the playoffs.

The RPI is a mathematical equation that ranks teams by the strength of their schedule and is based on three different parameters: the teams winning percentage , their opponents winning percentage and their opponents opponents winning percentage.  The equation gives each team a percentage and then those numbers are used to rank each team throughout the season. With the playoffs coming up in February teams can get an idea as to whom they may be playing when the time comes.

Tabiona holds the top spot in the 1A ranks followed by Piute, Panguitch, Wayne and Monument Valley. Pinnacle sits at No. 17 and Green River No.19.

The Pinnacle Lady Panthers hold a 4-8 record. They have dropped their last two, both home games. On January 4 the independent Grand County Red Devils came to town as the Lady Panthers dropped the contest 63-26.  Avree Atwood had eight points and Samantha Kessler added seven in the contest.

Last Saturday they welcomed Wendover to town and Pinnacle struggled 60-11.

Up next for the Lady Panthers is a road trip to Monticello. They will back home on Friday to face the Green River Pirates.

Green River find themselves just two spots behind Pinnacle in the No.19 position with a 1-9 record. The Pirates have had an up and down year and were once again able to get back on the floor last Friday night against Whitehorse 55-35. They will face Wayne on Wednesday and then make the trip to Price to take on the Pinnacle Panthers.

In 3A, the Judge Memorial Bulldogs hold the top position followed by  Richfield, Grantsville, Emery and Layton Christian Academy.

The Lady Spartans hold a 10-4 record this season and are coming off a 64-47 loss to Richfield. Tuesday they will be back on the court in Draper where they will face Corner Canyon, they will then turn around and play Canyon View at home on Friday.

Carbon lands at No.8 on the list with a 10-4 record. Last Friday the Lady Dinos faced the Canyon View Falcons in their first region game and captured the 46-28 win. Up next is a home contest with the No. 2 Richfield Wildcats.
