
The Lady Dinos had a tough game on Thursday night against the Richfield Wildcats falling 53-36 in Price. Entering the contest at the No. 2 spot, the win pushed the Wildcats to the No.1 spot in 3A in the latest UHSAA rankings.
Richfield has a 14-2 overall record and is currently 2-0 in Region 12 play. Richfield was on fire on Thursday night shooting 58% from the field and defensively put the clamps on Carbon after the first quarter.
The Dinos kept pace with the Wildcats holding a slim one point lead after the first quarter, But it was all Richfield after that, as they would hold Carbon to single digit scoring through all the remaining quarters.
Madi Orth and Haley Garrish both put 10 points each on the board for Carbon, with Orth collecting four rebounds and four steals. Amiah Timothy had a full stat line with seven points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The Dinos are now No. 9 and have a 10-5 record, and this week will face the Emery Spartans on Thursday night.
The Spartans are the No.4 team in 3A and sit at 12-4 and 1-1 in Region 12 play. They are coming off a win over Canyon View last Friday. This will be the first meeting between the two rivals and no matter what sport or where it’s held, it’s always a great game.
