Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and longtime friend, Shirley Ann Evans Prettyman, age 88, passed away suddenly, January 22, 2022 from complications of a fall at her home.

Shirley was born in Elsinore, Utah on September 17, 1933 to David Reese and Eva Pearl Blackburn Evans. She lived most of her life in Carbon County and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She married Ted LeRoy Prettyman on May 14, 1948 in Price, Utah at the age of 14. Together they had eight children. Ted passed away in August of 1965, leaving Shirley with only an eighth-grade education, and no driver’s license, to raise their eight children. Shirley went back to school, graduated from Carbon College, and supported her family. She worked at the El Rancho Steakhouse, Koret of California, was the owner of Shirley’s Beauty Boutique, and then worked for many years in the medical office setting specializing in medical billing. After retiring, she devoted her time volunteering as a Pink Lady at Castleview Hospital and working in many capacities at the Carbon County Senior Citizens Center where she started the gift shop. When she wasn’t working at the senior center, she was spending her time there making friends, line dancing and learning to play the ukulele. Her many talents include expert level crocheting, being a seamstress, crafting, putting together jigsaw puzzles, cooking and baking.
