With just five team members, the Green River Lady Pirates have had a unique season to say the least. They have had to forfeit games because of injury and most recently to COVID issues with team members, all they want to do is play. On Saturday they got their chance when Whitehorse came to town. Going back and forth in the early going, the final quarter sealed their fate and the Raiders took the 59-44 victory.

The Whitehorse Raiders have an 11-7 overall record and currently are 4-1 in region play, they also hold the No.9 spot in the RPI, and have put six of their last 10 in the win column.

Whitehorse came out in the first quarter putting up 18 points, but the Pirates kept it close pulling to with in five after one. By the end of the second, the Raider lead was still a manageable six.

In the second half, Whitehorse pushed the lead to double digits and ended the game scoring 17 in the fourth quarter.

Abigail Erwin scored 24 in the game, Erwin has led the team in scoring this season, averaging 17.9 points per game. Kassidy Lenhoff scored 10 points in the contest, Jenilee Keener added six and Liliana Gonzalez four in the loss.

The Lady Pirates have a 1-11 record, 0-3 in region play and sit in No. 21 in the state RPI, with six games left on their schedule until the 1A tournament starts towards the end of February.

Up next they welcome the Wayne Badgers to town Tuesday. Wayne is the No. 4 team in 1A with a 7-5 record.

Green River will then be back home on Wednesday to take on Monticello. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m..
