Our loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Sally Jensen Palmer Timothy passed away on January 22, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Sally was born on April 9, 1937 to William James Jensen and Nola Sherman in Cleveland, Utah. She was the sixth child of eight siblings in her family. Sally was the last surviving sibling.
Sally attended North Emery High School. At the age of seventeen, she married Willis Arthur Palmer on March 7, 1954. Together, they were blessed with two daughters; Sally Kathleen and Kitty Ann Palmer. Willis passed away in 1969 from complications of a mining accident. Sally then became widowed at the age of 32 with two girls.
After Willis’s passing, she attended the College of Eastern Utah and graduated as the valedictorian of her Cosmetology class. Following graduation Sally opened “Sally’s Beauty Bar” in her home where she did hair for many friends for over 38 years.
Sally later married John Perry Timothy on February 2, 1971. John preceded her in death on December 22, 2000. John had six children, Lynette, Gayla, Jay, Blaine, Calvin, and Troy. Together, they blended their two families to make a total of eight kids in the house.
Over the years, mom enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, sewing, camping, and spending time with her family. Sally was a rock hound. She had a love for rocks. Sally was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Mom loved the time that was spent doing her clients hair. They too were also considered dear family members to her. Mom loved pictures. She enjoyed taking those photos back when it was all on film.
Sally was the fun and crazy grandma. She was blessed with the gift of “gab.” Mom was a natural care giver to everyone whom she came in contact with. She will be dearly missed by all. Till we met again we love you mom.
Survived by her daughters, Sally Kathleen (Kathy) Palmer, Price, and Kitty Ann Kirkwood (John Barnes), Wellington; step-children, Lynette, Gayla Powell, Jay Timothy, Blaine Timothy, Calvin Timothy, and Troy Timothy; grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Gunter (Jared), Kathy Jo Martinez, Kelli Jo Martinez, Shelli Jo Ness (Barry Bolten), all of Price, and Kent Kirkwood (Kerry), Grand Junction, Colorado; and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, James and Nola Jensen; husband’s, Willis Palmer and John Timothy; son-in-law, Joe (Little Joe) Martinez; sister-in-law, Garna Butler; and step-granddaughter, Amy Preston.
Funeral service, Friday, January 28, 2022, 11:00 a.m., Wellington Stake Center. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home and at the church on Friday starting at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Wellington City Cemetery.
