On Tuesday night, the Spartan wrestling team held it’s final meet of the regular season against Maple Mountain from Spanish Fork. It was Senior night and as the Spartans said goodbye to 10 seniors they still got to work and claimed a 45-33 win.

Maple Mountain, is a team who wrestles in the 5A classification and reached out to Emery looking to come in and a put a meet together.

The Spartans do things a little differently on Senior night. They offer dinner for the crowd and they also welcome alumni to come back and wrestle in an exhibition following the varsity matches.

On Tuesday night, a packed Spartan Center came out to support the team and honor the seniors and alumni. After the crowd was treated to five matches from alumni of years past.

All-in all Emery claimed wins in eight of the fourteen matches, three by forfeit, four by pin including Byron Christiansen’s round one pin of his opponent,and one by decision.

Now that the regular season has come to an end the Spartans will look forward to next Wednesday Feb. 2, when the divisional brackets will be released.  The Divisional Round is set for the 4 & 5 and the State Championships the 16 & 17. Both events will take place at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.
