The Price City Desert Wave Pool has many activities for families to enjoy from swim lessons, swimming, birthday parties and rentals. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Aquatics Director, Tamara Gray to discuss all the fun details.
Another session of swim lessons is set to begin for anyone wanting to take lessons. “February 7 will be our second session for our winter/spring sessions and that will go till March 3, then we have them on March 7, and then the next one on April 11. So they go pretty much till the first part of May, then we take a break towards the end of May, and then we start up our summer sessions in June,” said Gray. Classes are taught Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 pm to 5:25 pm, they are 30 minutes sessions, and the cost is $35.00 per session.
Once your child gets familiar with being in and around the water, they can think about becoming part of the community swim team. “The Barracudas, they’ve been around for a long time. We have an amazing coach Kamra Davis and she has been coaching them for a long time. They can start out, right now we have an 8-year-old, that’s the youngest right now, but you can go as young as 6. If your child can swim across the pool, has the basic knowledge of the strokes, they’ve been through our swim lesson program, then you can bring them. We let you try it out for the first couple of days, at no charge, to see if its something that will work for you,” explained Gray. This swim group is a great way to introduce your swimmer to competitions and prepare them for the high school level.
If you would like to have a birthday party or family gathering at the Desert Wave Pool rental options are available. “We have small group parties. If you want to rent it out exclusively for your group, we have that. We have our Wibit, our indoor pool obstacle course is very popular. You have the indoor pool with the Wibit or you can do the wave pool if you have a larger group or smaller kids for the wave pool because we have the zero-depth entry. But yea we can accommodate, the tubes are included in rentals if you rent the wave pool. We have birthday party packages if you don’t want to rent it,” said Gray. A do-it-yourself birthday party starts at $13.25 for 5 people, any additional is $2.75 per person. Reserved party packages begin at $40.00.
