The Dinos were looking to even the score on Wednesday night in Cedar City as they tried to avenge their only region loss to the Canyon View Falcons. The game started out quietly but a big second quarter from the Falcons created a sizable deficit for Carbon as they lost 68-55.
Back on January 14, these two teams met up in Price in a highly competitive contest that watched Canyon View leave with a 66-63 win. In the game Rylan Hart and Jackson Griffeth both scored 15. After the loss Carbon went on a three game win streak against region opponents Richfield, Emery and Grand.
The game on Wednesday night started quietly, with the Dinos keeping it close down by three after one, 7-4. In the second, Canyon View found another gear on both sides of the ball holding Carbon to six points and scoring 22 taking a 29-10 lead into the locker room at half time.
In the second half Carbon came out ready to play, chipping away at the Falcon lead putting up 20 and cutting the advantage to 14 points. In the final quarter, Carbon found another 25 points to put on the board but the damage from the second quarter was too much to overcome, and they were handed their second region loss and ninth overall.
Jordan Fossat had a great game for the Dinos scoring 17. Fossat has had an impressive year so far, averaging just under 10, along with three rebounds and four assists per game.
Rylan Hart added 10 and Jackson Griffeth nine.
The Dinos dropped one spot in the RPI to No. 15 with their 8-9 record. They have just three games remaining on their schedule. Two region contests and one non-region game.
It all starts Friday night with a home game against the Richfield Wildcats.
On January 19 in the Wildcats’ gym, behind 17 points from Chet Anderson, the Dinos earned a 63-55 win.
