There is lots of construction projects that have been taking place within the Emery County School District and Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Superintendent Ryan Maughan about all the details.
“So Book Cliff Elementary we added two large classrooms and a teacher work area and it’s done, there in place and they’re using it. So they’re absolutely utilizing that, and it’s ready to go so we’re excited about that,” stated Superintendent Maughan. The school was in need of more space and they are excited to finally have that in Green River.
Elementary students in Ferron are getting a brand-new school which is currently under construction. “So it’s being built on the other part of the property so we’re not disrupting students being in school right now. But it’s slated to be done for next Fall where they would transition over to the new building. If you have an opportunity to drive by, they’re going to see a lot of work that’s been done and it’s a beautiful building and when it’s finished, I think we’re going to have what we need there,” said Superintendent Maughan.
Construction on the high school is moving along quite nicely and officials hope to have it totally completed by Fall 2025. “Right now, we’re looking, like everyone’s looking, at increased costs and so we’re working with great people and they’re trying to find every way they can to support our needs, as well as not break the bank. We’re going to have a nice building there; it’s going to take another three years. Our contractors and architects they’re working as fast as they can just because of the delay of all the products, so they can have that in to hold the timeline and we’re excited for that as well,” stated Superintendent Maughan. The district is hopeful that the construction will help meet the needs of the community.
