Thursday night at the Spartan Center, Emery took the court with the No.1 team in 3A, the Richfield Wildcats. In a game with huge region and state implications, the Lady Spartans took care of business and the Wildcats with a 52-38 win, holding Richfield to their lowest point total of the season.

Richfield has been making their way through Region 12 play this year, in fact Emery handed them their first region loss of the season. The Wildcats still hold on to the top spot in 3A, followed by Judge Memorial and a new team at No. 3, the Emery Spartans.

The first quarter was really all Emery, Richfield couldn’t find a bucket until the 3:14 mark, the Spartans kept feeding the ball into Tatum Tanner, who battled all night with the Wildcats Nicole Willardson.

The Wildcats would come firing back in the second putting together a small run at the end of the quarter that would cut the Spartans lead down to three at halftime 25-22.

In the second half, Richfield would come out and hit a three pointer at 7:29 to tie the game up and that was as close as the Wildcats would get the rest of the game, as Emery went on a 21-8 scoring run in the third quarter. The final 8:00 saw the Lady Spartans slowly build on their lead while holding Richfield in check with their defense.

Tambrie Tuttle led the way for the Spartans with a game high 17 points, she also grabbed three rebounds and dished out two assists along the way. Baylee Jacobson was right behind with 15, she also pulled down six rebounds. Jacobson and Tuttle are one and two in points per game this season for Emery.

Brynn Gordon and Tatum Tanner both put up seven points and three rebounds in the win.

The Spartans have a 15-4 overall record and share the top spot in Region 12 with the Wildcats, both teams have just one region game remaining on their schedules.

For Emery, they will face Real Salt Lake Academy in a non-conference game and then wrap up the season next Thursday night in Price to take on the Dinos.

Richfield only has one game remaining next week with Canyon View, so if they were to lose that contest and as long as Emery takes care of business against Carbon, the Spartans would take the region crown. If Richfield wins against Canyon View, Emery will share the title with the Wildcats.

The Spartans game Tuesday night with Real Salt Lake Academy will be the final regular season home game so, that means it will be Senior Night. The game is set to begin at             6 p.m. in the Spartan Center.
