The Price Boys & Girls Club is an after-school program in the area that helps supervise students after-school. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Director, Quakee Tabone to share all the details of what the club offers children in the area.

“One of the things that they’ve been focusing on with their activities this month is actually STEM, which is the Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics. One of their favorite activities they just did from that this month is the Juniors, our Junior’s program is kindergarten through fourth graders right now, they got to make rock candy and we had some hit or miss a little bit but the kids loved it and it was a super awesome experiment they got to do. Then aside from our activities that we do we also offer homework help,” stated Tabone. The students will first arrive at the club and proceed with the club’s Power Hour where they will read for 20 minutes and do their homework before enjoying fun activities.

The club has several events coming up and they are excited to be offering these events to their members. “So first we have our Teen Night, which the teens love. But we do it after all the Juniors have all left, it usually happens about 6:30 pm, this month its on February 25, and it’s themed Anti-Love/Valentines. The teens came up with that one, they thought that everybody should get a chance to celebrate. They’re in charge of all the decorations and getting everything put together, and the games. I think it will be a big hit,” said Tabone. This is a great way for the teens to gather with one another to celebrate the Valentine’s holiday in a safe and supervised environment.

Another great event coming up for the club is Do You Love Your Club week. “So Do You Love Your Club is an event that we plan, that’s a whole week of basically a big party. We do what ever we can to show our love for the club and our love for the kids. The kids get a chance to show appreciation towards the staff, their other members at the club with them, and the club in general. We try to do service but we also try to make it as fun as possible. We have all kinds of treats, snacks, activities. It’s basically a big Valentines party but with the intent of making sure the kids know that we are there for them and that they have a place to go,” explained Tabone. The members of the club will also be participating in the annual Price City St Patrick’s Day Parade in March.
