The opening round of the state playoffs started on Wednesday night as the No.14 Carbon Dinos welcomed the No.19 Judge Memorial Bulldogs. The Dinos struggled finding offense throughout the evening  and when the final horn sounded Carbon’s season ended with a 45-39 loss.

The Dinos came into the evening looking to advance and head to Grantsville for the next round on Saturday, but the Bulldogs had other plans holding Carbon to 26% shooting in the contest.

In the opening half of play both teams would put up nine points in the first quarter, the separation would come in quarter two, with Judge putting up 14 while holding Carbon to nine, the Bulldogs would take a 23-18 lead into half time.

In the second half, Judge and Carbon would battle back and forth, with Grantsville waiting for the victor. The tug of war would end as time ran out in the game and on the Dinos, as the Bulldogs took the six point win and move on to the next round.

Rylan Hart led Carbon with 14 points and eight boards in the contest, Braxton Stevenson added ten and a trio of Dinos, Chet Anderson, Jackson Griffeth and Jordan Fossat each added five.

Aaydan Saucedo, Anywan Kuang both scored 16 for Judge in the win. Will Selfridge added eight.
