It’s time once again for a Quick & Easy Cooking Class to be offered on Wednesday, February 23 at 6:30 pm with USU Extension Carbon County, C.A.R.E. Coalition, Castleview Hospital and Create Better Health. These agencies are excited to be hosting another great event for community members to come learn how to cook a delicious recipe with a guest chef.
“What we usual do is just demonstrate a recipe that is quick and easy to prepare and is nutritious as well. We’re trying to show people that no matter who you are or how busy you are you can fix a nutritious meal to serve your family at dinner time. We also like to encourage families eating together as that is a protective factor in helping our youth be successful and choose healthy life choices instead of the other options that our out there,” stated Extension Assistant Professor, Christina Pay. The evening’s event will take place at the USU-Extension Classroom located inside the Carbon County Administration Building at 751 East 100 North, Suite #1700 in Price.
“Research shows that the family that has at least one meal together during the day it strengthens the family bonds, it also strengthens the youth gives them tools that they need to be successful and to thrive in life. Add to that, a healthy meal so that you don’t have to spend money at fast-food places or other restaurants, necessarily every night so it will save you money and give you that nutritious meal that will benefit your family,” explained Pay. Having a meal together also promotes family bonding time and opens the lines of communication with the youth.
The guest Chef for the event will be Helper City Mayor Lenise Peterman who will be demonstrating a Teriyaki Chicken Wrap recipe. Space is limited for the Quick & Easy Cooking class with only 10 spots available at this time. “You can also signup or register to come in person, if you’re going to do that you need to jump on to https://www.eventbrite.com/ there’s only 10 slots left, we have room for about 20 people. So if that is something you want to do get on https://www.eventbrite.com/ and register and come join us, it’s free,” stated Pay.
