Carbon ended their regular season with a big home win over Emery 51-48 on February 10, then last Friday the Lady Dinos took care of business on their home floor in their opening game of the state championships against No. 9 Manti, 44-39. Thursday the venue will move to Weber State University in Ogden and they will face the No.1 team in 3A, the Judge Memorial Bulldogs.

The season started out a little rocky for the Dinos, who lost three of their first five games. The next eight games went pretty smoothly with seven wins and just one loss that came at the hands of the defending state champion Morgan Trojans. The Dinos then would put together four more wins, but then three big region losses, two to Richfield and one to Emery would follow. The last three games of the season brought a 2-1 record bringing Carbon to 12-8 at the end of the regular season.

Carbon will be looking to senior Sydney Orth, who has been averaging 9.2 points per game while pulling down 3.6 rebounds and grabbing 2.6 steals.  Sophomores Madi Orth and Amiah Timothy will be ones to watch in this contest as well. Madi averaged 8.1 ppg. and 4.0 rebounds while Amiah puts up 7.2 ppg and grabs 2.7 rebounds per contest for the Dinos.

As for the Lady Dinos opponent, the Judge Memorial Bulldogs, they ended the season a perfect 23-0 and landed with the No. 1 rank in the RPI. Judge Memorial, like Carbon, was given an opening round bye and played their first game last Friday, dismantling Juan Diego 70-33.

Judge will lean heavily on senior Teya Sidberry, who does it all for the Lady Bulldogs. Sidberry averages 34 ppg leading the state in that category, she also leads the state with 5.6 steals as well and pulls down 12.8 rebounds per game, which lands her in the No. 5 spot across all classifications.

The game with Judge Memorial will start with the Landon’s Diesel Pre-game show at 7 and the tip-off is schedule for 7:30. Tune to KRPX 95.3 The Peak, for the call. A live stream will also be available at castlecountryradio.com, or on the KRPX app.
