Price City Health & Wellness Committee is looking for volunteers to be Team Leaders for the upcoming fundraiser called Hiking is My Therapy. This event will take place between May 2 through September 30 and will feature some local hiking trips in the Carbon and Emery County area. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Price City Representative, Kathy Sherman and to discuss all the details.
This idea was originated last year as an event for Price City employees and their families to enjoy. The organizers got so much positive feedback from the event that they decided to open it up as a fundraiser for the entire community to participate, so right now the event organizers are looking for Team Leaders. “This year we decided to kind of tackle something different, we wanted to include the community and that means Carbon, Emery, all the communities really, anyone and everyone that wants to participate. We decided to include everyone in this and make it a fundraiser for charities. So what we’re looking for in Team Leaders is somebody to recruit members for their team, and they’ll choose a team name, they’ll choose a charity, we’ll have a list of charities or they can choose a charity of their choice,” said Sherman. Once a Team Leader is established, they will then start putting their hiking team together. Members of the team can range from a hand full of individuals to an entire company/business.
There is a registration fee of $25.00 per team member that goes right towards the team’s charity of choice. “That $25.00 will go to the charity that the team is representing. There’s going to be 10 hikes, two per month starting in May and will end in September. If you hike the trail, you’ll pay $5.00, if you do not hike the trail, you will pay $10.00. All that money will go into a pot, and at the end of the event that money will be split equally amongst all the charities,” stated Sherman. The money that is earned from the hikes will be secured by the Team Leader. The hikes are not strenuous they are more like leisure walks that highlight various scenic areas in Carbon and Emery counties.
Right now, the organizers of the fundraising event are in need of Team Leaders so if you would like to lead a team for a fun, healthy, outdoorsy, activity over the summer months while earning money for a local charity, get signed up today. Team Leaders need to get signed up by Friday, February 25 by calling Sherman at (435) 637-5010 or by email her at kathys@priceutah.net
