
Sophomore Amiah Timothy scored 20 on Thursday night as the Lady Dinos met the Judge Memorial Bulldogs, the No. 1 team in 3A, in the quarterfinals of the State Championships at the Dee Events Center on the campus of Weber State University. The first quarter was kept close but Judge would slowly build their lead earning the win and moving on by a score of 57-33.
Timothy had 20, Haley Garish scored six and Sydney Orth four, in a contest where the Dinos went 10-46 from the floor including 1-12 from behind the three point line. Carbon committed 30 turnovers in a game where Carbon could not get their offense going.
In the first quarter, Carbon kept pace as the Bulldogs took a 16-12 lead in the quarter. Moving into the second quarter Judge Memorial would slowly push their four point lead to nine going into the locker room at the half.
In the second half, Carbon’s offensive struggles continued shooting 17.9%, they did however hold Judge to 12 points in the third but heading into the final quarter Judge put the clamps on offensively holding the Lady Dinos to four points in the quarter.
Teya Sidberry was as advertised for the Bulldogs, Sidberry, who averages 34 points per game, scored 27 while pulling down eight rebounds and grabbing four steals. Marika Collins added 12 and Esther Analjok put up 11, moving Judge Memorial to 24-0 this season.
Carbon will now turn around and face the Lady Spartans of Emery on Friday at 11:10.
These two teams know each other very well as they both play in Region 12. In the two meetings this season the two teams split, with each team winning on their own floor.
